The Review
I adore the character of Jane Wunderly! She has spunk, intelligence, and a sense of justice. In the newest addition to the “A Jane Wunderly Mystery” series, Danger On The Atlantic Jane gets involved in an undercover spy investigation aboard a cruise ship bound for New York. Redvers, a hunky spy/Intelligence Officer, or so we assume, is on board to find a spy that could cause damage to the security of the country and the world. He and Jane are posing as husband and wife, and things are about to get interesting when they have to share a stateroom.

There is a cruise ship full of people with defined personalities and odd peculiarities, but one of them is a killer with a lot to hide. So the question is, which one of the many passengers is capable of cold-blooded murder? The main suspects are known from the beginning, as Redvers and Jane discuss their undercover assignment and who they are on board the ship to watch and, if possible, uncover their secrets.

Once they are on their way across the Atlantic, there is no one to call for help if they are found out. The suspects are all good candidates for being spies and killers, but some are more likely than others. It doesn’t take long before Jane’s undercover work brings her into the heart of the cruise ship’s seedy side and a mystery she isn’t sure she can solve. Evidence stacks up against one particular passenger, and a sinister plot reveals itself. The undercover operation is in jeopardy when a killer decides that the couple must exit the cruise ship before it reaches port. With a few twists and turns, Jane and Redvers identity and the purpose for their presence on the ship are revealed. The killer is found, but the bigger question of who the spy takes a bit longer.

Characters in this series are always amusing and easy to like. I missed Janes’s Aunt in this newest installment; I feel that she always adds intrigue and a few chuckles to the story. Unfortunately, she didn’t make an appearance this time around, which detracted from my overall enjoyment. However, other characters did an excellent job of making up for Aunt Millie’s absence. Redvers is as secretive as always, but he does open up a bit about his past, making him a much more interesting character. I felt Jane grew into a more trusting person, allowing her to accept her attraction to Redvers without too much drama. Jane’s undercover assignment aboard the cruise ship leaves readers wanting her and Redvers to have more adventures. I, for one, cannot wait to read the next book in his series.

Readers will get lost in the past as they read Danger On The Atlantic. They will long for a time when some things, such as cruise ships and undercover agents, spies, and old-world charm, held more fascination than they do today. But no matter what readers think of these types of adventures, they will fall in love with Jane and Redvers and happily await their next assignment.
